Oftentimes, the hardest part of early motherhood is how alone you can feel. Even with the most supportive partner and family, new moms can find themselves searching for friends who understand what they are going through. One of the easiest ways to feel supported is to join a new moms group. If you are looking for new mom groups in Sonoma County, you are in the right place!

New Mom Groups In Sonoma County:

The Petaluma Mother’s Club

The PMC is a group based in Petaluma that is designed for moms with babies, all the way to 5 years old. In addition to several in-person events throughout each month, the Petaluma Mother’s Club has very active Facebook groups for each child’s birth year. Because of this, there are frequent meet ups and playdates for moms with babies in the same age range. Many Petaluma Mom’s stay connected to their “birth year” groups for years to come. The PMC has a $40 annual fee to join, but provides members with discounts and offers throughout Sonoma County.

Therapist-led Support Groups

If you are wanting more intentional, educational support, a new mom therapy group might be right for you. New mom support groups can provide affordable access a therapist during postpartum, while giving you a chance to make new friends. I host a postpartum support group for new moms in Sonoma County that meets weekly. We currently meet online for convenience, but we keep the group local, so that we can do occasional in-person meet ups at my office at SOMO Cowork in Rohnert Park. You can learn more here, or email me at kylie@kyliehempy.com to sign up.

The Mom Walk Co

The Mom Walk Co is a popular, casual new mom meet up. Interestingly, it was started by a mom on Tiktok, who was looking for new friends! There are 3 local chapters in Sonoma County (Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, and Windsor). Usually, Mom Walk Co groups meet 2-3 times a month in different parks and locations throughout Sonoma County. If you’re wanting to stay in leggings all-day and get some sunshine, this might be the group for you! Because of their origin story, the best place to learn more about The Mom Walk Co is social media. The individual meetups have their own accounts and post their calendar each month.

Fit4mom

Fit4mom Santa Rosa is a great option for women who are looking to move their bodies, with the support of a trained instructor, while making friends. Fit4mom classes welcome babies and toddlers, so you don’t need childcare! For this reason, classes are designed to incorporate your stroller. By design, breaks to console or feed your baby are expected and okay!

She Can Club

She Can Club is a women’s group in Sonoma County that hosts events at their clubhouse in Santa Rosa. The group isn’t specifically new-mom focused, but their mission is to “plant seeds of possibility in Sonoma County”, which feels particularly important for postpartum moms. I personally attended their vision board event during my last postpartum season, and loved it! Their founder, Hillary Richards, host events every month or so, and are a great opportunity for new moms looking to connect to other local women, and focus on other parts of their identity, outside of motherhood.

Spiritually-Based Groups

For many women, spiritual communities are extremely important in their postpartum season. While there isn’t a local MOPS/ MomCo group in Sonoma County, there are some local churches with similar groups including Spring Hills Church and Newsong Moms. Additionally, there are Jewish support networks for moms in SF, Marin, and Sonoma County.
